What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machinist position at Prince Industries?
JOB SUMMARY:
The CNC Machinist/Operator I reports to the Production Manager. Sets up and operates CNC machines to manufacture metallic and non-metallic parts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
- Reads and interprets blueprints
- Properly and safely loads and unloads raw materials
- Proficient in the use of measuring instruments
- Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
- Power on and operate CNC Mills/Lathes with minimal assistance and demonstrates self-initiative
- Familiarity with MAZAK/HAAS/Fanuc controls are a plus
- Must demonstrate a basic understanding of cutting tools
- Properly selects/uses inserts, fixtures, and tooling
- Understands and can perform basic tool wear offsets
- Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery
- Assists in the organization and maintenance of the machine shop work environment
- Provides constant feedback and input into process improvement within the department
- Basic understanding and ability to follow manufacturing processes and procedures
- Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures
- Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions
- Communicates thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing, to co-workers and management
- Attends scheduled meetings and actively participates by providing meaningful input
- Flexibility with time and schedule to assure availability to customer or company as circumstances warrant
- Communicates honestly, professionally, and respectfully with others and demonstrates effective listening skills
REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES:
- In-depth knowledge of CNC milling machines and operations
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Proficiency in using measuring instruments and tools
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work night shifts and adapt to a fast-paced environment
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in CNC machining is preferred
- 1 year of experience in CNC machining
- Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach during the duration of shift, 8-10 hours
- Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend
- Frequently required to perform repetitive tasks and lift up to 50 pounds
- Understands and observes all necessary safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as designated in the specific work area assigned
- This position requires working night shifts
- The work environment includes exposure to noise, dust, and machinery

Compensation:
Pay: $18 - $22 Hourly
