Preschool Director/Teacher
Position Introduction:
Prince of Peace Church will be launching a new preschool program in the fall of 2025. The preschool will begin with classes for 2 and 3 year olds with the goal of adding VPK in later years. Our goal is to hire a capable self-starter to fill the role of Preschool Director. As the inaugural Preschool Director, the ideal candidate will be uniquely gifted to not only manage a preschool but also build those systems. The responsibilities and time commitment for this role will grow as the preschool grows. Our goal is for the Preschool Director to start on June 2nd, 2025. Our goal for the first day of classes is August 11th, 2025.
Position Overview:
The Preschool Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our preschool program, ensuring the highest quality of care, formation, and safety for our students. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and having God’s call on their life for this work. The Preschool Director will agree with and promote Prince of Peace Church’s statement of faith (https://www.popv.org/what-we-believe).
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- They will report to the Senior Pastor (Rector) and serve as their proxy as leader of the Preschool.
- Provide visionary leadership to the preschool staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Working closely with the Rector, they will assist with the recruitment, hiring, and training of preschool teachers and support staff.
- They will Conduct regular staff huddles, evaluations, and professional development to promote continuous improvement.
- They will ensure the preschool is compliant with relevant policies from the Diocese and the Church, as well as develop any particular policies for the preschool that ensures the smooth operation of the preschool program.
Teaching and Curriculum:
- Serve as a lead teacher in one of the classrooms.
- Ensure that overall school curriculum aligns with the theological convictions of Prince of Peace church and promote the mission statement to foster spiritual, social, emotional, and academic development.
- Provide guidance and support to teachers in implementing curriculum activities and adapting instruction to meet the needs of individual students.
- Parent and Community Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with parents and families, fostering open communication and collaboration.
- Organize parent orientation sessions, and develop creative ways to involve parents in their child's education.
- Represent the preschool in the local community, participating in outreach activities (such as the Viera East Farmer’s Market), and building partnerships with other organizations to supplement the preschool’s programming.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Maintain compliance with all licensing regulations and accreditation standards.
- Ensure that the preschool environment is safe, clean, and conducive to learning.
- Develop and implement emergency procedures and protocols to ensure the well-being of students and staff.
Budget and Financial Management:
- Working closely with the Rector, manage the preschool budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficiency.
- Monitor expenses, track revenue, and seek opportunities for revenue generation through grants, fundraising, or other means.
- Work closely with administrative staff to maintain accurate financial records and reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in early childhood education. At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
- Knowledge of child development principles, curriculum development, and best practices in early childhood education.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and community members.
- Expertise in licensing regulations and accreditation standards for preschool programs.
- Proficiency in Google Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
Hours and Compensation:
- From June 2th to August 7th, the Preschool Director’s schedule includes 10 hours of flexible administrative time finish arranging classrooms, meet with prospective families, assist with interviewing staff, and other duties relevant to launching a preschool.
- At the launch of the school year, the Preschool Director’s schedule includes 12 hours per week including 5 hours of classroom time and 2 flexible hours of administration. As the preschool grows, more flexible hours of administration may be added to suite the needs of the preschool.
- This is a part-time position starting at $20 an hour.
- Holidays observed by Brevard County Schools (i.e., Labor Day, Presidents Day, etc.) are considered paid holidays. Extended breaks (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break) are considered unpaid time off.
