The Construction Inspections Specialist – Plumbing offers a tremendous opportunity for you to use your expertise in construction, code enforcement and project management to assist targeted industry stake holders throughout the construction lifecycle of their projects. About This Role:
- Serves as the lead inspector for projects as assigned by the construction supervisor
- Performs trade specific inspections
- Research’s and monitors targeted industry projects
- Can communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Establishes and nurtures effective working relationships
- Coordinates and leads pre-construction meetings
- Responsible for documenting meeting minutes
- Attends multi-disciplinary internal meetings and provides input
- Performs data entry using the county’s computer-based programs for documenting project life cycle
- Assist the supervisor with the development and presentation of in-house training curriculum
- Serve as a member on Department/Division Process Action Teams
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 3 year of related (plumbing construction) experience.
Preferences:
- 3 years (or more) construction experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Working knowledge of local and State construction codes
Work Schedule:
This position works a standard Monday-Friday schedule, working 37.5 hours per week.
Special Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License - must pass a DMV records check
- Successful completion of a Pre-Employment Physical
- Become certified by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development as a Technical Assistant to the Building Official within 18 months of employment. This is in accordance with Part 1 of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, the Virginia Construction Code, 2015 Edition and effective 9/4/18, Section 105.2.2 Certification of Technical Assistants.
- Become certified as a Virginian Residential Combination Inspector within 3 years of employment
Starting Salary Range:
