Positions and their assigned work locations are contingent upon sufficient student enrollment and program needs. An essential function of this position is the ability to work in person and physically report for work at the school.
Duties & Responsibilities/Illustrative Ex Of Work
The incumbent provides specially-designed instruction to students in all areas specified by the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) related to the provision of Extended School Year services. Develops and implements a plan for managing classroom behaviors in accordance with IEPs using a variety of positive behavioral supports. Utilizes assistive technology and specialized equipment. Maintains a system of record keeping and data collection. Plans and supervises assignments for teacher assistant(s) and/or other volunteer(s). Other Duties as Assigned.

Basic Qualifications
- Current Licensed staff shall meet or exceed all performance standards.
- Instructional candidates must hold a valid VA teaching license with Special Ed endorsement.
- Staff who recently retired and have not satisfied their bonified break in service, and Retirement Opportunity Participants who have not completed their ROP hours for the upcoming school year, are not eligible to work summer school.
Compensation/Candidate Types
- Certified staff working in their licensed capacity in summer instructional programs (06/16/2025-08/08/2025) will receive their hourly rate based upon the salary in their 2024-25 contract for summer instructional program hours worked. Actual start and end dates will vary by program.
- Teachers contracted to start in the 2025-26 school year, certified Temporary Teachers, and certified Long-Term Subs who successfully completed a long-term certified assignment in 2024-25, shall receive the approved licensed temporary rate of $46.50/instructional hour. $32/hour for non-instructional hours.
