What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer 2025 Police Internship position at Prince William Public Libraries?
If You Are a College Student Who Is Interested In a Law Enforcement Career, Prince William County Police Department Is Offering a 6-week Internship Program Designed To Introduce Students To The Field. Selected Applicants Will Work 20 Hours Per Week For 6 Weeks And Receive $18.00 An Hour. The Internship Will Run From May 26th To July 3rd, 2025. Qualified Candidates Must Meet The Following Criteria
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Preferably in Junior or Senior year of college
- Must be in good academic standing with college
- Must be of good moral character
- Must not have been convicted of or have pled guilty/no contest to a felony or any offense that would be a felony if committed in the state of Virginia
- Must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor of a serious nature that reflects moral turpitude or indicates a tendency to disregard the law
- Must be willing to complete a background investigation to include interview, criminal history checks, and drug screening
- College transcript – required (Unofficial may be submitted)
- Cover letter - required (addressed to Police Personnel Manager) with the following information:
- Explain your interest in the Prince William County Police Department
- Describe how this internship will benefit you and how will it apply to your future goals
- Document the number of credit hours to be obtained through an internship
- Indicate the internship hours required by your college
- Describe your college reporting requirements (evaluations, special projects, etc.)
- Minimum of one letter of recommendation - required (preferably from college faculty)
