POSITION SUMMARY:
The Audiology Technician will work under the supervision of a licensed audiologist or a licensed hearing aid dispenser, performing selected tasks to enhance the patient-experience. The position is responsible for planning, organizing, and providing various assignments as directed.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Exam Booth Rooms
- Confirms that booth, equipment, and computers are powered on, calibrated, and ready for the day each morning.
- Performs biological check of all equipment.
- Verifies the following:
a. Equipment such as otoscopes, otoscope tips, and penlight tips are available
with fully charged batteries.
b. Equipment and rooms are sterilized and ready for the day.
- Preps and sanitizes exam room between patients.
- Shuts down and sanitizes all equipment in treatment rooms at the end of the day.
Prep and Assist in Telehealth Audiological Testing under the supervision of an Audiologist
- Prepares all necessary intake paperwork in preparation of the diagnostic evaluation.
- Documents patient responses to FDA Red Flag questions.
- Performs non diagnostic Video Otoscopy
- Performs Tympanometry/OAE when needed.
- Assists in set-up and administering audiological tests including: Puretone A/B testing, SRT, WR and QuickSin testing.
- Performs screenings as directed.
- Assists in treatment programs.
- Assists with setup and technical tasks.
- Uploads audiograms and outcome notes to Practice EMR.
- Inputs the order for an ELE into the EMR.
Hearing Aid Fitting/Dispensing Related Tasks
- Assists in tracking orders to confirm that all equipment arrives in a timely manner ready for the patient fitting appointment.
- Ensures that dispensing paperwork is filled out and ready for signing, including checklists.
- Any required cables and boots are readily available in all rooms.
- Confirms that all devices are charged and ready for fitting/dispensing.
- Pre-programs all products prior to patient fitting.
- Performs hearing aid orientation (pre or post-fittings), including basic care and use of the hearing aid (insertion, removal, adjusting volume, etc.) according to the Delivery Checklist.
- Works with the patient and the Patient Care Coordinator to schedule follow-up appointments.
- Demonstrates and sells Assistive Listening Devices (ALD’s), batteries, and other special products.
Administrative Support Duties
- Maintains inventory of clinical supplies.
- Communicates with ELHC if products has to be returned or exchanged during the fitting/dispensing process.
- Uploads all documents to the appropriate EMR as directed.
- Sends copies of audios, letters and reports where needed.
- Provides excellent customer service and maintains good publirelations.
- Follows good safety and infection control protocols.
Job Skills, Knowledge and Ability
- High school diploma or equivalent
- MA Certificate a plus
- Prefer one-year plus experience in an audiology or medical facility.
- Excellent interpersonal skills that allow effective working relationships with a diverse customer, colleague, and vendor population.
- Must interact with customers in a caring and respectful manner.
- Must be detailed oriented.
- Have met training requirements and have competency-based skills necessary for the performance of specific assigned tasks.
- Has completed Audiology Assistant training or has a Dispensing permit or license.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour
