Our client, a global life sciences company, is seeking an experienced commercial lawyer to join their in house legal team in New Jersey. This is a hybrid position based out of Morristown, New Jersey.Job Overview : Seeking a commercial lawyer with validated experience in contract drafting and commercial transactions to provide legal review, advice, and support on a broad range of legal matters. Matters include but are not limited to strategic transactions, commercial contracting, quality and operations, claims resolution, and general corporate matters, with a particular focus on strategic sourcing and procurement matters as well as capital expenditure and construction projects. Experience in drafting contracts for indirect procurement matters, equipment purchase agreements, construction contracts, design and build contracts, and EPCM contracts preferred.Experience with real estate matters is a plus. Strong drafting, communication, and negotiating skills required.Work closely with business functions and senior management. Actively assist the company in achieving business objectives.Demonstrate strategic value and competence in applying legal skills to daily corporate, business, compliance, and matters.Key Accountabilities : Responsible for assuring the availability, continuity and quality of proficient, timely, and cost-efficient legal services. This position has an important role in providing legal advice in areas of significant company-wide impact.Provide comprehensive legal counsel to support contractual and commercial projects for the company’s business operations and initiatives.Work closely with all business functions and senior management. Actively assist the company in achieving business objectives.Identify areas of company risk and make proposals for and lead implementation of mitigation strategies.Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements : Admission and membership in good standing to the bar of at least one state.7-10 years of proven experience and practical skills in commercial transactional / contracting matters.Strong drafting and negotiation skills are critical.High degree of professional ethics and integrity.Excellent judgment and ability to operate in a fast-paced small legal department on a broad range of commercial and legal matters with a primary focus on negotiating complex contractual arrangements with vendors, contractors, landlords and service providers.Ability to act independently and as part of a team. Ability to provide solution-oriented, practical guidance in working with business management.Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, outside counsel, business partners, and other stakeholders.
