We are seeking a passionate and motivated Business Development Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the management team to secure the supply of spent lithium-ion batteries and manufacturing scraps for recycling production. Key responsibilities include building and maintaining supplier relationships, sourcing feedstock, negotiating contracts, and monitoring market trends. This role also involves developing new accounts, preparing for bidding process, and aligning procurement strategies with the company’s objectives.
WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON?
- Identify and establish new partnerships, customer relationships, agreements, and revenue streams to drive business growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both prospective and existing customer accounts.
- Develop new channels and opportunities for the company's technology, including securing feedstock supply and off-taker agreements.
- Lead commercial and business discussions, prepare proposals, and negotiate agreements and commercial terms (e.g., MOUs, SOWs/MTAs, Letters of Support/Commitment, JVs, RFIs/RFPs)
- Develop and implement negotiation strategies to maximize value while minimizing risks.
- Negotiate and finalize contract terms and conditions with relevant suppliers.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including technology and manufacturing, to align business discussions with technical and operational goals.
- Stay informed on market trends, including developments in North American electric vehicle and battery manufacturing, the competitive landscape, and evolving customer preferences, to inform strategic decision-making.
- Monitor industry practices and shifts in demand/supply dynamics, such as supply consolidation and technological advancements.
- Generate monthly sales pipeline forecasts and provide detailed progress and performance reports.
- Actively represent the company at industry conferences and trade shows, fostering networking and business development opportunities.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE IS SOMEONE WITH

- Experience: 5 years of business development experience, including at least 1 year focused on the lithium-ion battery value chain, particularly with Auto OEM battery-related divisions, cell manufacturers, cathode/pCAM producers, or lithium-ion battery recyclers.
- Business Acumen: Proven success in leading and capturing new business opportunities with a strong understanding of industry and market dynamics.
- Negotiation Skills: Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts and agreements effectively with partners and customers, backed by exceptional communication and negotiation expertise.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver compelling presentations to internal teams and external clients.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong grasp of commercial terms, contract structures, and intellectual property (IP) concepts.
- Sales Mindset: Proven capability to drive sales of innovative technologies.
- Adaptability: Agility and resilience in a startup or scaleup environment, with a track record of thriving in fast-paced, dynamic settings.
- Collaboration: Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating cross-functionally on multiple tasks and projects.

- Travel: Willingness to travel frequently (50%-80% of the time) to support business development efforts, including attending industry conferences, trade shows, and conducting on-site customer meetings.
- Location: This is a remote position is remote; however, we prefer candidates located along the "battery belt" and within the Eastern or Central time zones.
