Accounting Analyst, Fund Accounting

What You'll Do

We’re looking for an Analyst to join our Fund Accounting team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for performing day-to-day fund accounting activities for a group of assigned funds including calculating and reporting the daily NAV, verifying trades and transactions, reconciling cash and position holdings, reviewing and closing exceptions and resolving discrepancies. In addition, incumbent will be responsible for performing fund accounting activities associated with specialty items (e.g. SWAPS, bank loans) as assigned and compiling information for monthly and quarterly reporting and semi-annual and annual audits. Incumbent will be responsible for ensuring all activities performed are completed in compliance with established regulatory and internal control procedures and guidelines.

  • Operational Analysis / NAV Calculation & Reporting - Perform daily fund accounting activities for a group of assigned funds (primarily stocks). Execute timely and accurate NAV calculation of funds which includes accounting for purchases, sales, income accruals and expenses, to ensure timely and accurate reporting of the daily NAV/fund price. Review and verify trade and transaction activity against control files, input entries into the system as applicable. Perform cash and position holdings reconciliations (e.g., between system and brokers and/or custodian). Research and clear discrepancies in a timely manner through clear communication with sub-advisors, custodian banks and senior team members as needed. Review identified exceptions affecting accounting records and prices and assist senior team members as needed to close them. Participate in pricing tasks to finalize NAV calculation. Ensure activities are completed in compliance with stablished regulatory (e.g., SEC) and internal control procedures (e.g., documentation of daily work and balancing) and guidelines.
  • Specialty Team Analysis & Report Preparation - Monitor, research and record timely and accurate transactions or events associated with specialty items as assigned; items may include broker reconciliation, segregation, bank loans, SWAPs, and/or AG (retention system). Clearly communicate progress, research findings and effects of such items on the funds to team members as appropriate. Assist in the compilation of information in preparation of monthly (e.g., broker reconciliations) and quarterly reporting and semi-annual and annual fund reports and audits as requested.
  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; strong preference towards a bachelor's degree in accounting with exposure to finance or other analytical course work
  • Previous internship working in related field preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, time management, interpersonal and communication skills is required
  • Must be detail oriented, able to maintain a high degree of accuracy, meet established deadlines, able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Must be a self-starter, and have good customer service skills
  • Must have the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships and effectively communicate with internal and external contacts
  • Experience with Word and Excel required
  • Ability to learn systems and applications used within the firm required
  • This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • This position may be subject to SEC restrictions on personal political contributions.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$27.40 - $46.13 / hour
Time Off Program

Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness.

This role offers an in-office and hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) work arrangement in Des Moines, IA.
