What You'll Do

Are you a marketing professional searching for an outstanding chance to develop impactful strategies in the retirement sales sector?

 

Join Principal Financial Group as a Marketing Strategist. This role will assist with developing innovative strategic messaging that effectively engages and activates B2B customer market(s). Provide research-based customer points of view and marketing guidance to the business. Help drive the planning and execution of specific marketing initiatives within the assigned target market(s). Actively promotes customer insights and is an active contributor to the understanding and mapping of those target customer markets. Assists in influencing leaders and decision makers at all levels to gain strategic commitment for sustainable target market experiences, resulting growth opportunities for Principal.

  • Assist with developing innovative engagement strategies to drive positive customer emotion and demand for our products/services. Drive the execution of marketing initiatives and product/services to help Principal to grow brand preference and grow revenue among our target audiences.
  • Cultivate a solid understanding and application of target market research, marketing and competitive trends, market dynamics and regulations.
  • Track, analyze and communicate results. Use results analysis to improve future outcomes.
  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) and at least 6 years of related retirement services experience required
  • Must have intermediate level of knowledge of the marketing profession and modern marketing strategies and the financial services industry
  • Experience helping to building strategic marketing programs that deliver strong results
  • Ability to translate data analytics into implications
  • Solid strategic and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to influence to bring stakeholders together to deliver a consistent message
  • Preferred experience: General understanding of retirement business, products and industry along with understanding or experience with B2B audiences
  • General understanding across the entire customer journey with Principal as well as an understanding of the competition and market opportunities and customer experience

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$81900 - $147600 / year
Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environment

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
