As a Senior Marketing Strategist on our Retirement Participant Marketing Team at Principal Financial Group, you will play a crucial role in shaping data-driven marketing strategies that will support participant engagement in our Large Market retirement plans. In collaboration with our client-facing team, you will help develop marketing strategies that align with the goals of our retirement plan sponsors. Your focus will be on designing and implementing best in class marketing campaigns to drive participant engagement and achieve outstanding results for our plan sponsors.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop data-driven marketing strategies to engage and activate participants in our Large Market retirement plans.
- Collaborate with the client-facing team to align campaigns with plan sponsors' goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with the broader marketing team to exchange knowledge, share learnings from campaigns and strategies, and upcoming projects.
- Identify and implement existing campaigns or create new data-driven strategies for plan sponsors.
- Partner with the Martech and creative teams to ensure the right media, message, and creative are used.
- Influence leaders and decision-makers to gain strategic commitment for sustainable marketing experiences.
- Measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns through engagement and activity metrics.
- Provide research-based consumer insights to support campaign improvement.
- Apply test and learn methodologies and analyze statistical significance on campaign results.

Who You Are
We're looking for someone with:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 4 years of experience in consumer marketing, preferably in the retirement industry, specifically looking for experience with direct mail, email and digital media.
- Proficiency in analyzing and translating data analytics into actionable marketing strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong database marketing experience, including segmentation and personas.
- Knowledge of predictive models and statistical significance.
- Proven track record of building strategic marketing programs that achieve business goals.
- Exceptional strategic and critical thinking skills.
- Skill in building strong relationships and promoting teamwork.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$95200 - $182400 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
