The Senior UX/UI Designer will play a key role in shaping the user experience for our emergency dispatch software, collaborating closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to deliver exceptional user-centered designs. The Senior UX/UI Designer will be responsible for defining design strategy, leading design initiatives, and ensuring that our software is intuitive, accessible, and effective for emergency responders under high pressure conditions. This role operates on a hybrid work model based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Senior UX/UI Designer will be responsible for defining design strategy, leading design initiatives, and ensuring that our software is intuitive, accessible, and effective for emergency responders under high pressure conditions. This role operates on a hybrid work model based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor junior designers, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.
- Develop and champion the overall design vision and strategy for our emergency dispatch software, aligning with business goals and user needs.
- Conduct comprehensive user research, including user interviews, usability testing, and data analysis, to inform design decisions and ensure that our designs meet the needs of our target users.
- Design user-centered interfaces for our emergency dispatch software, encompassing dashboards, workflows, mobile applications, and other key components.
- Ensure designs are intuitive, efficient, and adaptable to various screen sizes and devices.
- Define and document user flows, interaction models, and information architecture to create seamless and intuitive user experiences.
- Develop high-fidelity UI designs that are consistent with Priority Dispatch’s brand guidelines, ensuring visual appeal and accessibility.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and interactive mockups to communicate design concepts, gather feedback, and iterate on designs based on user testing and stakeholder input.
- Work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure design feasibility, alignment with technical requirements, and seamless integration into the software.
- Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508) and best practices, prioritizing inclusivity and usability for all users.
- Remain up-to-date on the latest UX/UI design trends, technologies, and best practices, incorporating innovative solutions into our products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in UX/UI Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- 7 years of experience in UX/UI design, with a proven track record of leading design initiatives and mentoring teams.
- Experience in SaaS, B2B, or public safety environments is highly desirable.
- Extensive portfolio demonstrating a strong understanding of UX principles, interaction design, information architecture, and visual design.
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
- Demonstrated experience conducting user research, creating user personas, and employing user-centered design methodologies.
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards and best practices (WCAG, Section 508).
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Familiarity with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
- Ability to use computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor for extended periods of time.
- Effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders via video calls, phone, and or in person meetings.
- Occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
- Lead the design process for digital products or features while conducting research and testing.
- Creating and maintaining design systems while collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders.
- Provide mentorship to other designers on the team.
