Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in various healthcare settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities, and teaching hospitals. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering high-quality care and assisting patients with daily activities, ensuring their comfort and well-being. This role is vital in helping patients navigate their recovery process, whether they are in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center or receiving care in a specialized unit such as the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
Duties
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a positive environment.
- Monitor patient health by observing changes in condition and reporting any concerns to nursing staff.
- Help with mobility assistance, ensuring patient safety while moving around the facility.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas to promote a hygienic environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals in both outpatient and inpatient settings to deliver comprehensive care.
- Participate in patient education initiatives, reinforcing instructions provided by medical staff.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or similar role is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Familiarity with hospital medicine practices and protocols within teaching hospitals is advantageous.
- Experience working in outpatient or inpatient settings is beneficial.
- Knowledge of care procedures related to trauma centers and specialized units like PICU will be considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
