Position Overview
The Inside Sales Representative – Freight Forwarding Specialist is a critical role in driving business growth by leveraging extensive freight forwarding experience to identify and develop new opportunities, maintain and support existing accounts, and lead pricing and proposal initiatives. A deep understanding of air and ocean freight imports and exports is essential to ensure seamless collaboration across teams, deliver the Ultimate Customer Experience, and build strong, lasting customer relationships. This individual’s expertise in freight forwarding will directly contribute to the company’s success and its reputation as a leader in global logistics and emergency response.
Responsibilities
- Lead Generation and Customer Engagement
- Research and identify new business opportunities through phone, email, webinars, and in-person interactions.
- Qualify and probe leads, update CRM records, and generate quotes based on market research and awards.
- Build rapport with customers, addressing inquiries and nurturing relationships to drive business growth.
- Conduct in-person and online meetings with clients to maintain and expand business relationships.
- Customer Support and Program Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving shipment issues.
- Coordinate with various teams to ensure smooth transitions from quote to delivery.
- Conduct regular follow-ups with clients, providing updates, collecting feedback, and identifying new opportunities.
- Pricing and Proposals
- Support the Pricing Team by following up on quotes, gathering feedback, and assisting with proposals.
- Track proposal deadlines and assemble comprehensive offers, including compliance packages and rates.
- Administrative and General Duties
- Attend sales and operational meetings to stay informed and contribute insights.
- Assist with onboarding new clients, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and operational teams are informed.
- Prepare content for marketing materials and social media platforms.
- Support Customer Service Teams with tracking and follow-up tasks as needed.
Competencies and Skills
- Proficiency with Mac computers, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and CargoWise EDI.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines, proposals, and reports effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first mindset.
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to learn and expand knowledge of transportation and logistics through training and self-study.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of sales experience is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of freight forwarding experience (air/ocean imports and exports) is required.
- Experience handling complex contract negotiations is preferred.
- Experience with ITAR or military shipments is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with RFPs, RFQs, and proposal preparation is a plus.
- A friendly and professional demeanor with the ability to build relationships across diverse cultures.

Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
- Salary $50,000-$70,000 annually, depending on experience, plus commission
