A day in the life of one of our Payroll Customer Service Specialists is one filled with variety and an extensive amount of attention to detail. In this position, you will be interfacing with approximately 250 clients and supporting them with a high level of customer service every day. Position Summary
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Payroll Specialist is ultimately responsible for ensuring the customers’ expectations of a payroll job well done are met, compliantly and without defect. Success in this role requires an unusual balance of Payroll lifecycle expertise, attention to detail and the empathy typically reserved for only the best customer service team members.
The exceptional rapport built, and attention to detail demonstrated through the Payroll Specialists, across the client portfolio, is what continues to drive Priority One Payroll’s success.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Become an expert in payroll set-up (documentation & data systems), execution and reporting, customer service, and associated regulatory guidelines
- Build trust across the client portfolio by demonstrating a detailed understanding of not only payroll but ACH/banking processes, workers compensation, disability, and paid family leave, etc.
- Serve as the main point of contact for the client(s) and deliver an outstanding customer experience
- Deliver error-free, first time every time success while gracefully managing all client concerns to a successful close
- Operate within and continually improve the associated business processes and work instructions
What You Must Bring to This Role
- Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related, or a High School Diploma/GED and 4 years related experience or training in the Payroll lifecycle - required
- History of success operating in Payroll or a similar Human Resource or Accounting roles - required
- History in customer facing roles - required
- Demonstrated success rapidly building and maintaining relationships within an organization - required
- A history of excellence in communication (verbal and written), active listening, overcoming objections, risk mitigation, and problem-solving - required
- Exceptionally high attention to detail demonstrated - required
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects/priorities at the same time while prioritizing deliverables day-to-day - required
- A desire to continue learning, and proven success learning and translating learning into practice and results -required
- Demonstrated mastery responding to questions in a tactful & professional manner - required
- Strong interpersonal skills & the ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals - required
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Suite - required
- Working knowledge of Execupay, PlatinumPay, Xpress, and SwipeClock software or similar - desired
- Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Professional Certification - desired
note: Priority One Payroll will pay for the certification exam every 3 years. A $1,000.00 bonus will be paid for the first certification only.
