Under the direction of the Superintendent II at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility, Corcoran, this position is responsible for assisting the Prison Industries Superintendent II (Food & Beverage Packaging) with overseeing all phases of the food and beverage packaging enterprise at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and Corcoran State Prison. This position is responsible for supervising six Industrial Supervisors (Food & Beverage Packaging) that work in the Fluid packaging building, Bread and Cookie plant and the Vertical packaging/ pre-packaged meal plant.
CALPIA Food and Beverage Packaging program is designed to meet California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) institutional needs statewide. You will train and mentor incarcerated individuals who will gain knowledge and skills needed to meet the highest possible standards for Food and Beverage Packaging and increase one’s chances for employment opportunities upon release.

Pursuant to the Public Health Orders, masks shall be worn in accordance with local county requirements, CDPH requirements, and directives issued by CDCR and CALPIA. Employees new to CALPIA will be required to attend New Employee Orientation (NEO) prior to starting work within an institution or Central Office. NEO is 4.5 days (36 hours), and will be conducted at the Green Valley Training Center in Folsom, CA. New employees traveling 50 miles or more from their home address or headquarters location to attend NEO will receive a travel advance sufficient for meals, incidentals, and travel accommodations for the duration of NEO. Any questions or concerns regarding NEO training can be addressed during the interview process.

Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in food packaging, handling, or like product.
- Enterprise/Factory production experience: operate machinery, assemble equipment parts, etc.
- Supervisory or Management experience.
- Experience in state service.
- Experience purchasing materials and goods in support of a factory or enterprise: negotiate contracts, prepare bid awards, etc.
- Inventory Management experience: prepare work orders, bills of lading, requisition materials, and supplies, etc.
- Budget experience: analyze monthly accounting reports, cost analysis, examine budget estimates for completeness, etc.
