In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide administrative support to patients, fellow employees and referral sources through the coordination and administration of the front office activities. The ideal candidate will have a background in an administrative role with strong computer proficiency, and customer service. Typical responsibilities include scheduling appointments, validating insurance and payment authorization, inputting claims, processing payments, performing account collections, conducting billing research and responding to telephone inquiries.
Roles/Duties:
- Responsible for patient appointment scheduling
- Creation of new patient charts and maintenance of patient records
- Scanning and filing patient documents and ensuring complete and accurate information
- Managing incoming phone calls
- Obtaining insurance authorization
- Obtain patient insurance information and other paperwork for billing
- Collect, apply, and record payments
- Make payment arrangements with patients
Minimum Qualification:
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of administrative experience in healthcare
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- Experience as an administrative assistant or office manager in Prosthetic and Orthotic industry
- Proficient in the use of Navinet, Availity, and other electronic insurance verification/authorization systems
- Experience with EMR/electronic health/medical record systems (preferably Futura or Opie)
- Ability to correctly type at least 40 words per minute
- At least 2 years of computer and office equipment experience including MS Office products (Word, Excel), e-mail, facsimile machines, calculator, postage machine, copiers, etc.
- Basic math and accounting skills
- Meet deadlines and prioritize duties
- Work independently
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks (ex. multitasking) with a high degree of detail orientation while working in a fast paced environment
- Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with patients, referral sources, and colleagues.
- Strong interpersonal, oral (including telephone) and written communication skills, including the ability to follow written and verbal directions.
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, fellow employees and referral sources
- Act with integrity in all ways and at all times, remaining honest, transparent, and respectful in all relationships
- Working knowledge of state, federal, regional collection and reimbursement laws, HIPAA and other medical insurance regulations and terminology for private payer, state and federal plans including coding, billing and reimbursement protocols
This is a full-time position. The hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
*Hourly wage is dependent on experience
