We are currently hiring a Fleet Manager/Dispatcher. Cdl A would be a plus as well as knowledge of permitting and IFTA.
Responsible for the following
Route planning:
Creating efficient routes for truck drivers based on pickup and delivery locations, considering traffic conditions and driver availability.
Load assignment:
Matching available trucks with freight shipments and assigning loads to drivers.
Communication with drivers:
Regularly contacting drivers to provide updates on routes, delivery schedules, and any changes to assignments.
Customer interaction:
Communicating with clients to confirm delivery details, address concerns, and provide shipment updates.
Monitoring driver logs:
Reviewing driver logs to ensure compliance with hours of service regulations.
Problem-solving:
Addressing unexpected issues like delays, mechanical problems, or weather disruptions and finding solutions to maintain delivery schedules.
Data entry:
Recording shipment details, driver information, and other relevant data into dispatching software.
Required skills for a truck dispatcher:
Strong communication skills: Effectively communicating with drivers, customers, and other stakeholders via phone, email, and radio.
Organizational skills: Managing multiple shipments and driver schedules simultaneously.
Geographical knowledge: Understanding road networks, state regulations, and efficient routes.
Problem-solving abilities: Quickly assessing situations and making decisions to resolve issues.
Computer proficiency: Familiarity with dispatching software and GPS systems.
