Role Overview
The Business Continuity & Resilience (BC&R) Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the resilience of Google/Alphabet's operations in the face of disasters, crises, or disruptions. This role involves conducting risk assessments, evaluating business continuity plans, and working closely with internal teams and third-party vendors to mitigate risks. The successful candidate will have a global impact, collaborating with teams across Singapore, the UK, the US, and EMEA.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct risk assessments to identify operational gaps and vulnerabilities.
- Engage with Program Administrators (PAs) to assess business needs and resilience strategies.
- Facilitate resilience interviews with internal teams and third-party vendors.
- Develop reports for leadership, outlining risks, mitigation plans, and recommended actions.
- Ensure the continuity of critical business functions, including workload transfers when necessary.
- Assess and evaluate third-party vendors for risk exposure and contingency planning.
- Review and refine Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) to enhance preparedness and response capabilities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required (preferred fields: Business Administration, Technology, or related disciplines).
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in business continuity, resilience, or risk management (ideally in financial institutions or technology).
- Skills & Expertise:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess business impact, identify risks, and propose solutions.
- Familiarity with Google Suite and basic technical tools.
- Working knowledge of business continuity and resilience frameworks.
- Ability to independently manage meetings, assessments, and deliverables.
Certifications & Flexibility
- Preferred certifications in Business Continuity & Resilience (e.g., DRI, BCI).
- Candidates with 3 years of relevant experience will be considered even if they lack certifications.
Tools & Systems
- Experience with business continuity tools such as Logic Manager, Oracle Risk Management, and Compliance Fusion Framework is beneficial.
- Google is developing an in-house BC system, eliminating the need for external tools.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Preference for candidates from financial services backgrounds.
- Industry Experience:
- Strong preference for candidates with a background in banking/financial services.
- Tech industry experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Experience Level:
- Minimum required: 3 years.
- Preferred: 5 years.
- Overqualified candidates (e.g., Directors or VPs) may not be a fit due to the hands-on nature of the role.
- Work Focus: Primarily execution-focused rather than strategic planning.
