What are the responsibilities and job description for the AR Billing Specialist position at Procare Home Medical?
Overview
The Billing Specialist has the primary responsibility of processing paperwork necessary for the company to bill
and collect fees for equipment and services provided. This paperwork may include prescriptions, letters of
medical necessity, CMN’s, invoices, EOB’s, remittance, checks, vouchers, and electronic versions of the same
documents. The paperwork may involve contact with patients, referral sources, hospitals, doctors, nurses,
insurance companies, state and federal agencies, and third-party intermediaries.
- Billing specifically VA and Hospice.
- Denials - involved in the processing of denials
- CMN management - The major responsibilities include timely submission of CMNs, follow-up tracking,
staying current with coverage criteria changes, and responding to queries from referral sources and
staff. - Collections - collect all monies due in a timely manner.
- Quality Assurance - audit and confirm work orders and supporting documentation into the billing
system in a timely manner, to ensure maximum reimbursement for services rendered.
Position Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and one year of billing experience required
- Familiarity with medical billing and coding with NCICS certification strongly preferred
- High organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines
- Must be detail oriented
- Strong keyboarding skills required
- Proficient computer skills. Must be able to master complex software process.
- Medical Accounts Receivable experience and/or accounting education preferred
