Sr Research Scientist, Protein Purification - Contract - Wilmington, DE
Proclinical is seeking a dedicated scientist to join the structural biology research team as Senior Research Scientist.
Primary Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be required to focus on accelerating gene-to-structure workflows through the expression, purification, and biophysical characterization of recombinant proteins and complexes. This position is crucial for supporting Cryo-EM and Crystallography projects.
Skills & Requirements:
- Experience in protein expression and purification.
- Understanding of vectors and cloning strategies for various cell systems.
- Ability to work independently with guidance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in drug discovery programs using structural biology is desirable.
- Creative, self-driven, and capable of managing multiple programs.
- Cryo-EM and Crystallography experience is a plus.
The Sr Research Scientist, Protein Purification's responsibilities will be:
- Conduct protein expression through transfection in mammalian cells, baculovirus generation, and bacterial systems.
- Design and optimize purification protocols using chromatography techniques.
- Perform biophysical characterization of proteins, including analytical SEC and thermal stability assays.
- Maintain detailed experimental records and analyze data for stakeholder presentations.
- Collaborate with the structural biology team to enhance protein stability and functionality.
- Support daily operations and development strategies for the protein production lab.
- Troubleshoot protein expression to improve yield.
- Deliver high-quality purified protein samples for structural studies.
- Follow established workflows efficiently and reproducibly.
