Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Wound Care Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in wound care management and demonstrate expertise in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with various wound types. This role requires a compassionate approach to patient care, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with wounds, including obtaining vital signs and reviewing medical histories.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on assessment findings and evidence-based practices.
- Perform wound care procedures utilizing aseptic techniques to promote healing and prevent infection.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure adherence to treatment protocols.
- Document patient encounters accurately in electronic health records (Epic) while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care management, prevention strategies, and overall health maintenance.
- Participate in utilization review processes to ensure appropriate resource allocation for wound care treatments.
- Stay current with advancements in wound care practices and participate in ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
- Active Nurse Practitioner license with specialization in wound care or related field.
- Experience in pediatric wound management is a plus, particularly for candidates who have worked with children.
- Familiarity with ophthalmology practices is beneficial but not required.
- Proficient in performing spinal taps and other necessary procedures related to patient assessment.
- Strong understanding of coding practices related to wound care documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to educate patients effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while demonstrating strong organizational skills.
- Previous experience with utilization review processes is preferred but not mandatory.
