What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Construction Inspector position at Professional and Technical Services Inc. PTS?
Professional & Technical Services, Inc. (PTS) is currently seeking Civil Construction Inspectors for road, utility, drainage system, storm water compliance, site development, and other similar projects. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Experience with civil construction and/or inspection including street, storm drain, water, sewer, SWPPP compliance, grading and drainage, materials testing, and quality control
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of erosion and sediment controls and skills to assess conditions on a construction site that could impact water quality
- Possess a current Alaska Certified Erosion & Sediment Control Lead (AK-CESCL) certification or current Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC) certification
- Familiarity with Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) storm water compliance program
- Familiarity with Alaska Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (APDES) Construction General Permit (CGP)
- Familiarity with ADOT&PF Standard Specifications for Highway Construction, Municipality of Anchorage Standard Specifications (MASS), and/or comparable documents
- Ability to perform physical activities for extended durations on construction sites
- Valid Alaska driver’s license
Responsibilities may include project construction inspection, managing SWPPP compliance for Municipal and State agencies, preparing daily inspection reports, maintaining project documents, coordinating materials testing, quantity tracking, and communicating with contractors and the public. Individuals must be detail oriented, have strong organizational skills, and demonstrate a clear understanding of the specifications and details of a given project. Candidates will likely work contractor’s hours, and as such may be required to perform night work, overtime work, and work outside of Anchorage. PTS will consider both full time and seasonal applicants.
