What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aggregates Plant Foreman position at Professional Employment Group of Colorado?
The Aggregates Plant Foreman will supervise daily operational activities which include oversight of plant production, plant maintenance and pit mining operations. Join one of the leaders in the industry with lots of room for growth.
Pay: $29-$45 per hour DOE
Functional Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct production employees in all phases of the pit operations.
- Efficiently manage employees time when scheduling training, breaks and lunch to effectively maintain optimal productivity.
- Plan and conduct daily safety/operational meetings with employees under your supervision.
- Lead by example on all safety rules/procedures and ensure that all employees under your direction are following established safety polices/procedures.
- Successfully implement company safety and environmental policies, encouraging employees to participate in safety activities.
- Ensure LOTO procedures are followed on all equipment at the location.
- Responsible for the proper care, maintenance and location of all tools and equipment.
- Maintain good housekeeping throughout work area, including directing and assisting in equipment and maintenance repairs.
- Complete pre-shift inspections and develop actions related to such.
- Conduct daily inspections of all work areas in the pit.
- Communicate any ideas that might reduce costs and/or improve overall production.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
- 3-5 years previous supervisory experience.
- Experience supervising people in an industrial environment.
- Previous mine operations (sand, gravel etc.) experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license is required and clean motor vehicle record
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical, which will include a background check.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and general administrative duties related to plant reporting functions.
- Knowledge and understanding of operations and maintenance of heavy equipment.
- Must be able to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and read and interpret gauges, ratios, and read various equipment operation manuals.
- Comprehensive understanding of MSHA Rules and Standards.
- Excellent time management skills, ability to be self-directed, stay focused, setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Capable of recognizing key issues and patterns in moderately complex situations and identifying solutions.
- Ability and willingness to work extended hours, shifts other than day shifts, including nights and weekends as necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of working outside in all weather conditions, frequently changing temperatures and noise levels.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Regularly required to spend intermittent periods of time during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, lifting material, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
- Ability to walk, climb, grasp, stand, balance, reach with hands and arms and work in elevated areas.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
