Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our esteemed healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care within our facility. The ideal candidate will coordinate patient care alongside physicians and nurse practitioners, assist with patient assessments, administer medications as per physician orders, and support administrative duties that enhance patient care. **High percentage of employee benefits covered.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners as needed, including administering allergy injections and monitoring for reactions.
- Complete insurance verifications and manage supplies for shot patients.
- Greet and escort patients, prepare them for exams, and take vital signs.
- Perform spirometry and other tests, while maintaining and sterilizing treatment supplies.
- Educate patients and document all interactions in their medical records.
- Call in prescriptions and conduct allergy testing as directed.
- Maintain emergency equipment and respond to patient calls.
- Follow up on referrals and insurance authorizations.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA.
- Stay current with practice management software and ensure timely completion of all required training.
- Attend and complete required training (CPR, OSHA, HIPAA, OIG) and staff meetings.
Skills
- At least one year of experience in clinical assisting preferred.
- Preferred experience in patch testing and spirometry, though not required.
- Strong communication skills and a neat, professional appearance.
- Knowledge of EMR software.
- Comfortable using email and internet applications.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school degree required
- CMA certificate desirable
