Provides Direct Support To:
Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune and Branch Clinics.
Duty Hours:
Monday through Friday between the hours of 0645 to 1700. The HCWs shall be scheduled for an 8.5-hour shift including an uncompensated 30-minute meal break.
Qualifications
Degree/Education:
- Associates Degree of Nursing.
- Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In lieu of graduation from an ACEN or CCNE Accredited program, the HCW may be a graduate from a State Board of Nursing or accredited nursing program
Certifications:
- Prior to commencing service under this contract, Contractor nurses shall attend a 2-hour lecture on IV certification. Contract nurses shall then obtain certifications (e.g., IV, medications and blood administration) in accordance with clinic nursing service and command policy not later than 60 days after commencement of services, including MTF observation of three completed IV sticks during this time.
- Successful completion of the Tri Service Internal Behavioral Health Consultant (IBHC) training or Tri Service Behavioral Health Care Facilitator (BHCF) training course. The HCW shall provide a minimum of 30 days of services prior to attending the training and must successfully complete the IBHC or BHCF training within 90 days of performance under the task order.
- (BLS) Basic Life Support. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
Experience:
- Possess one year of experience within the last four years in the evaluation and treatment of patients who have pain, psychological factors affecting their physical condition or difficulty coping with medical problems. Provide two letters of recommendation written within the preceding two years from practicing providers, supervisors or program administrators attesting to the HCW’s professional skills, competencies, patient rapport, training abilities, etc. Recommendation letters must include name, title, phone number, date of recommendation, address and signature of the individual providing the recommendation.
Licensure/Registration:
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform a full range of RN duties in accordance with assignment under the task order, including: triage; patient assessment and monitoring; use of patient monitoring and treatment equipment; appropriate nursing care, procedures and treatments; execution of physicians’ orders within the guidelines of standard nursing practice; documentation of patient care and observations; and patient education and emotional support.
- Provide professional nursing care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent and continuous manner.
- Assess each patient and perform triage duties as assigned.
- Formulate and carry out a goal directed plan of care which is based on determined nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes and which is prioritized according to patient needs and available resources including time, personnel, equipment, and supplies.
- Evaluate effectiveness of self-care given by all health team members, and contribution of systems, environment, and instrumentation in progressing patient toward outcomes.
- Provide treatment and discharge instructions upon patient release.
- Perform assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive status.
- Provide a safe and clean environment for each patient.
- Ensure areas are stocked and properly equipped.
- Identify patient/significant other learning needs and implement appropriate measures to meet identified needs.
- Assist in planning, provide clinical direction and provide instruction to LPNs/LVNs, Nursing Assistants, and Ancillary personnel.
- Provide concise documentation of care and recommendations in patient’s medical record in no less than 24 hours after the patient is seen.
- Participate in group medical appointments including Shared Medical Appointments (SMA) and Drop in Group Medical Appointments (DIGMA) as requested by the PCM.
- Operate and manipulate automated systems such as MHS Genesis, Citrix, Cerner, and Joint Legacy Viewer and Clinical Information System (CIS), participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions, as prescribed by the Commander. Maintain DOD email account as directed. The HCWs shall be responsive to all email and voicemail communications.
