The Maintenance Manager will report to the Plant Manager and lead the plant maintenance team to maintain, troubleshoot and repair the plant equipment.Key Responsibilities : Practice and enforce safe practices with departmentTrain employees on safety and best practicesEnsure employees are trained on job specific assignmentsMaintenance of pneumatic valves on optical sorting machinesAudit plant performance at completing maintenance tasks.Become a subject-matter expert in the operation and troubleshooting of optical sorting machines from multiple manufacturers.Calculate and issue monthly fuel surcharge updatesChampions and supports Lean and Continuous Improvement InitiativesChange belts and idler pulleys on trough-style conveyorsDevelop and refine maintenance planning processes; and preventive maintenance program for mechanical and electrical equipmentEvaluate and ensure the quality of maintenance performed by internal plant maintenance teams and external vendors.Identify plant performance issues and provide recommendations for equipment and design changes to correct them.Lead plants in performing root cause analysis (8D process) of issues involving quality, yield, and uptime.Manage company-wide system to track capital assets, life expectancy, and repair and maintenance (R&M) budget and costs.Manage equipment vendor relationships with major equipment suppliers; global spare parts program; spare parts inventory – order parts as needed, determine and manage stocking levelsOversee maintenance of forklifts and loadersPart number administration and entryPerform hands-on escalated maintenance troubleshooting and repairs; periodic preventive maintenance checks as required; basic electrical troubleshooting and repairsProvide coaching, training, and accountability to plant maintenance managers, and assist in hiring of new plant maintenance managers.Reportable Administration - adding new reports, adding users, report maintenance, managing user report accessSupport Continuous Improvement initiatives; emergency repair process; provide plant managers and plant maintenance teams with first-line escalation support during equipment failures.Track equipment status, redistribute maintenance and spare-parts assets, and expedite high-priority repair efforts to maximize plant uptime performance.Supervise and lead plant maintenance teamTrain plant personnel to assist in basic maintenance and PMsWeld and fabricate, as needed, patch holes in steel chutes and transitionsOther Duties as assignedQualifications and Requirements : 480vAC / 3 / 60 electrical troubleshooting3 to 5 years of maintenance experienceAbility to lead and direct the work of othersAbility to manage time and prioritize effectivelyAbility to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics preferredAble to work safely and efficientlyAdvanced mechanical and electrical maintenance skillsERP systems experienceExcellent communication and people skillsExperience with TPM Maintenance ProgramStrong computer and plant controls skills with analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skillsGood communications skills – bilingual English / Spanish preferredIndustrial manufacturing experience preferredMS Office required, including Excel, Word, and OutlookRigging of motors, conveyor pulleys, and other heavy componentsStrong experience with mechanical conveyorsStrong welding and fabrication skills, i.e., stick and wire weldingTeam player, able to lead and contribute to a team effortEducationHigh school diploma, or equivalent, required3-5 years of Supervisory experienceLean Manufacturing experience, 5s, and / or Six Sigma certification a plusCollege Degree or technical training, preferredWorking Conditions : Will be exposed to dusty and noisy conditions periodicallyA mixture of light, moderate and heavy physical activityPhysical Requirements : Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. 50 % bend, stoop, twist, reach, and climb steps.
