Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant with a strong emphasis on AIA billing to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of accounting principles, particularly as they apply to the construction industry. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.
Responsibilities:
AIA Billing Management
- Prepare detailed AIA billing packages, including application for payment forms, supporting documentation, and project schedules, in adherence to AIA billing guidelines.
- Accurately calculate progress billings based on project milestones and completed work.
- Monitor and manage outstanding AIA invoices, following up with clients to ensure timely payments.
Financial Recordkeeping
- Record all financial transactions related to construction projects, such as invoices, purchase orders, payroll, and expense reports.
- Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate general ledger entries.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments to vendors and effective collection of client funds.
Project Cost Tracking
- Collaborate with project managers to track project costs against budgets, identifying potential cost overruns and variances.
- Analyze project financial data to generate detailed cost reports for management review.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Generate customized reports for project managers and senior management to monitor project profitability.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations, including tax filing requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing systems for audit purposes.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Accounting Expertise: Strong understanding of accounting principles, including accrual basis accounting, and proficiency in general ledger functions.
- AIA Billing Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of AIA billing procedures and document requirements is essential.
- Construction Industry Experience: Proven experience working in the construction industry, ideally with project-based accounting background.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insightful reporting to management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification or working towards it is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
Salary : $70,000 - $85,000
