LOCATION: Hybrid in Portland, Oregon OR remote working PST core hours. Potential quarterly travel needed if remote.
PAY: Target W-2 hourly pay rate for this role is $75/hr and varies up or down depending on relevant experience and skills.
ENGAGEMENT TYPE: Contract with competitive benefits and option to extend and convert - will visit around 6 month mark. Our client is looking to start this role early April but might be able to flex earlier if needed.

What You’ll Be Doing
This role will be a critical part of a team that will enable all engineering teams to monitor their sites, apps, systems and services by building an open observability platform. This system will be critical to our client's business health proactively.
Who We’re Looking For
- 8-10 years of professional experience that includes designing and implement monitoring solutions, and a strong understanding of distributed systems
- Proven experience with observability solutions - open to New Relic, Dynatrace and LogicMonitor but strong preference for Grafana stack (Loki, Prometheus, Tempo and Mimir)
- Experience with Open Telemetry (OTEL), Open Metrics and Open Tracing
- Experience designing and implementing telemetry pipelines
- Experience with Azure, AWS, GCP
- Proficient in 1 or more programming languages - JavaScript, Python, C#
- Proven experience creating observability standards, tools and practices for teams/squads
- Can design, build, and implement telemetry pipeline focusing on log streaming and ingest from Azure, AWS and on prem systems
- Ability to collaborate proactively with variety of technical teams to understand their needs and define solutions
- Experience with defining standards and recommendations for implementing SLIs and SLOs
- Mentor experience to help engineering teams own their observability would be very helpful
- Comfortable creating documentation and standards to drive adoption as needed
- Clear and effective team player attitude as well as verbal and written communication skills
