Position Summary

The Facilities Manager ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the physical environment at the drug and alcohol detox center. This role involves managing the facilitys maintenance, security, cleanliness, and regulatory compliance as well as performing hands-on repairs and troubleshooting to support a safe and therapeutic environment for clients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Facility Operations and Maintenance

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of the facility, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and safety systems.
  • Develop and manage a preventative maintenance schedule to minimize disruptions.
  • Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and service providers, ensuring quality and timely service.
  • Maintain an inventory of essential supplies and equipment, always ensuring availability.

Ability to manage ticket management system including sending out weekly progress reports.

Availability for on-call emergencies and flexibility to work non-standard hours when needed.

Responsible for the oversight and maintenance of all company vehicles.

Perform other duties as assigned

Health and Safety Compliance

  • Ensure the facility complies with all local, state, and federal regulations, including those specific to healthcare and detox centers.
  • Regularly inspect the facility to identify safety hazards/ deficiencies and address them promptly.
  • Oversee fire safety systems, emergency response plans, and evacuation procedures.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.

Security Management

  • Manage building access systems and maintain security protocols to protect clients, staff, and property.
  • Monitor and respond to security issues promptly.
  • Conduct regular security drills in collaboration with staff and emergency responders.

Housekeeping and Cleanliness

  • Supervise housekeeping staff to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Ensure all areas meet infection control standards, particularly clinical and high-traffic areas.

Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the facilities budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Track expenditures and identify areas for cost savings.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise maintenance and housekeeping teams, providing training and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate schedules to ensure coverage and responsiveness to facility needs.

Qualifications:

  • Education:High school diploma or GED required; bachelors degree in facilities management, operations, or related field preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in facilities management, preferably in healthcare or detox settings.
  • Knowledge of healthcare facility regulations and standards (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA, ADA, HIPAA, and DHCS licensing requirements).

Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft office.
  • Proficiency in using facility management software and tools.

Plumbing Skills

Fixing leaks, clogged drains, and broken pipes.

Installing and repairing faucets, toilets, and water heaters.

Electrical Skills

Installing light fixtures, outlets, and switches.

Troubleshooting electrical issues and performing minor repairs.

Carpentry Skills

  • Repairing doors, windows, and furniture.
  • Building shelves, cabinets, or other wooden structures.

Painting and Finishing

  • Interior and exterior painting.
  • Drywall patching and finishing.

HVAC Maintenance

  • Basic knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Cleaning filters, vents, and troubleshooting minor issues.

General Repair Skills

  • Fixing appliances, locks, and small mechanical systems.
  • Replacing broken tiles, flooring, or other structural components.

Tool Proficiency

  • Proper use of hand tools (hammers, screwdrivers, pliers) and power tools (drills, saws, sanders).
  • Understanding tool maintenance and safety practices.
  • Certifications:
  • First Aid, CPR, and fire safety training is a plus.

Key Competencies:

  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of individuals in recovery and maintaining confidentiality.

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to three hours at a time, occasionally move about the facility including ascending, descending stairs and stepstools, operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, move and position items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

The work environment is a substance abuse and mental health treatment milieu. The individual will be exposed to varying indoor and, at times, outdoor conditions as part of the facility set-up and needs of clients and/or staff members. The individual will be exposed to clients who are experiencing symptoms of substance use and mental health disorders. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. Evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
