What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse position at PROGRESS HOUSE INC?
Under the supervision of the Chief Operations Officer and the oversight of the Medical Director, the Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse provides assessments, medication monitoring, treatment planning and crisis intervention for clients with substance use, mental health, and co-occurring disorders for Progress House, Inc.’s residential and outpatient facilities. Additionally, the Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse will support the goal of sustaining a safe and comfortable environment for the individuals served within the program by providing non-surgical medical care and guidance for health issues that arise in lieu of complete reliance on local emergency and urgent care facilities, ultimately reducing the cost of programs for the organization and funding agencies.

Responsibilities:
- Provide psychiatric evaluation and follow-up exams, diagnosing clinical mental health disorders, and provide medication treatment for mental health and substance use disorders.
- Collaborate with Medical Director on a regular basis to ensure enhanced delivery of care.
- Prescribe narcotic and non-narcotic medications as per California State Law.
- Order appropriate clinical laboratory tests.
- Review laboratory and diagnostic tests and manage clients according to current treatment guidelines.
- Provide health maintenance and health education
- Consult with Chief Operations Officer regarding clinical interventions and recommendations as necessary.
- Prepare and deliver oral and written medical reports to staff and appropriate professional agencies as indicated.
- Provide timely documentation for all clinical assessments, individual sessions, medication adjustments and crisis interventions.
- Utilize various funder and internal EHR systems.
General Duties:
- Maintain records and compliance as required by organization policies and regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Work as a member of a team to establish and maintain a high level of care and respect for, and communication with clients.
- Participate in management programs to enhance teamwork, team collaboration, communication and program development.
- Participate in program evaluation and ongoing quality improvement efforts, and development of program policies and procedures.
- Participate in program, funder and staff meetings as indicated.
- Participate in continuing education and clinical training programs appropriate to practice.
- Work in a consistently professional manner at all times, which includes, but is not limited to, treating all clients, staff, guests, and volunteers with dignity and respect.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Valid and current Nurse Practitioner license issued by the State of California.
- Current CPR certification
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with friendly and professional demeanor.
- Ability to be flexible to the daily changing needs within the community and to handle obstacles with compassion and resolve.
- Ability to pass pre-employment, investigative background check and drug test.
Special Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license
- Pre-Employment Investigative Background Check and Drug Test is required.
- Progress House, Inc. is a Drug-Free Workplace.
- Post-Hire TB Test is required; a post-hire, pre-employment physical including fitness for duty examination may also be required.
