We are looking for a dedicated individual to fill our Direct Support Professional position.

Our paid for sleep position working hours are 10p-8a, it pays $9.50/hr while you sleep 12a-5a and pays $15.18/hr during awake hours.

Overnight Aides provide support, skill training and therapeutic instruction to persons served in order to develop, maintain, increase or maximize an individual’s independence in self-care, physical, mental, and emotional health and development. They provide quality services that promote socialization, community inclusion, leisure and communication skills. They work closely with persons served, their families, P.I. staff and community individuals to achieve quality outcomes.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide a safe, respectful and therapeutic environment where learning can take place.
2. Support persons served to achieve personal goals as outlined in their annual plan.
3. Provide supervision and instruction over persons served finances.
4. Keep health and safety a top priority throughout services.
5. Maintain accurate and timely service documentation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. At least 18 years of age.
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
3. Ability to teach and train all the skills necessary for persons served to pursue the most independent level of living their potential will grant them.
4. Maintain a valid Iowa Drivers License and a private automobile used to carry out job duties. Hold adequate liability insurance.
5. Complete DMACC approved Medication Managers course within probationary period.
6. Attend orientation and all required courses for this position, and keep all courses current.
7. Maintain on record, at P.I., a telephone number where employee can be reached in case of emergency or for call-in purposes.
8. Basic computer and keyboarding skills are required.
OTHER ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Sociological Must be able to work effectively and amicable with persons served, co-workers, families, people in the community and other departments within the agency.
Hearing Ability to exercise sound judgment and to communicate to persons served, families, co-workers and community.
Sight Able to decipher handwritten and typed material.
Physical Have the physical stamina and dexterity as required for interventions (i.e. ability to bend, reach, lift 50 lbs., and ambulate stairs).
