Job Purpose

The Industrial, Manufacturing Maintenance Engineering Student Intern position should expect to learn multiple facets of office and shop floor engineering, type positions.

This can include administration, financial, engineering, and environmental / safety, IT and other projects. The student intern will leave this position with valuable skills and industry knowledge.

Education / Training

Qualifications, Experience, Education :

  • Skill Level II - Freshman - Senior;
  • Currently enrolled in a technical college or higher education program in the area of expertise assigned;
  • High level computer skills (data entry, Microsoft Excel, database knowledge, coding, scripts).

  • Strong knowledge of PC / data entry;
  • Intermediate level skills of Microsoft Office (Excel / Word / PowerPoint);
  • Familiar with CAD / 3D modeling system.
  • Familiar with various rotating, milling and other industrial Equipment

  • Skill Level I - Vocation Coop - Freshman / Sophomore;
  • Skill Level II - Freshman - Senior;
  • Skill Level III - Upper Classman - Graduate Student, STEM Emphasis;
  • Currently enrolled in a technical college or higher education program in the area of expertise assigned;
  • Familiarity with manufacturing environment;
  • Ability to comfortably present to team members and other area leaders;
  • Strong interpersonal / communication / prioritization skills are a must;
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Preferred Skills

  • Industrial Engineering Tools - Time Studies / Line Balancing / Man Machine Charts / Value Stream Maps;
  • Ability to read and understand prints, specification and standards documents;
  • Manage complex projects;
  • Proficient with 2D CAD and 3D CAD / modeling system.
  • Essential and Physical Activities Functions

  • Strength - Occasional lifting objects up to 35 lbs;
  • Motion -Office setting (50%) requires the use of a computer, keyboard, and other equipment. Shop setting (50%) with occasional walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and driving;
  • Vision / Hearing Requirements - Must be able to communicate with customers and coworkers and utilize all office equipment;
  • Work Environment - Work is partially in office sitting and not exposed to extremes of heat and cold. The position will also require some work on the manufacturing floor that could expose candidate to all environmental aspects;
  • Emotional Demands - Employee is expected to quickly pick up tasks in a fast-paced environment and maybe required to give presentation, speak in public and work in teams;
  • Safety -The position will require the use of all site-specific PPE.
