Your Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Conduct patient workups, including medical history intake, visual acuity assessments, and gathering preliminary diagnostic information to streamline provider appointments.
- Perform advanced diagnostic tests, such as retinal imaging, visual fields, tonometry, and refractions. Comprehensive training is available for these specialized skills.
- Assist with contact lens fittings, providing patient education on insertion, removal, and care while managing inventory.
- Maintain and calibrate optometric equipment, ensuring functionality and readiness for daily operations.
- Accurately document patient interactions, exam findings, and provider notes in the EMR system for seamless recordkeeping.
- Educate patients on eye health, treatment options, and follow-up care to promote a positive and informed experience.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience: 2-3 years in a clinical healthcare setting with at least 1 year in optometry or ophthalmology.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with EMR systems and diagnostic tools. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.
- Interpersonal Skills: A professional, empathetic demeanor paired with excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification as an Ophthalmic or Optometric Technician (or willingness to pursue certification) is preferred.
