What You’ll Do as a Patient Service Representative
- Handle patient scheduling for appointments, ensuring a seamless and positive experience whether over the phone, online, or in person.
- Perform check-in and check-out workflows with professionalism and attention to detail, setting the tone for exceptional service.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and benefits, ensuring accurate records and financial clearance before appointments.
- Assist patients with questions regarding fees, balances, and payment options while collecting and posting payments.
- Manage cancellations, missed visits, and recalls efficiently to keep schedules optimized.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations while maintaining confidentiality.
- Provide immediate service recovery by addressing and resolving patient concerns effectively.
- Support office operations, including opening and closing tasks, phone system management, and ensuring a clean, welcoming environment.
What You Bring to the Team
Education: High school diploma or GED required. An associate’s degree or higher is preferred.
Experience: At least 3 years in a patient-facing healthcare role. Candidates with 1–2 years of experience and a relevant degree are also encouraged to apply.
Skills:
- Strong communication skills to assist patients effectively.
- Working knowledge of medical symptoms, signs, and anatomical systems.
- Familiarity with insurance referrals and third-party reimbursement processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to learn and use multiple systems, including practice management and electronic medical record (EMR) software.
