Position Summary :
The Nursing Unit Coordinator provides administrative support to the NYPC Nursing Team. The Nursing Unit Coordinator will directly communicate with patients and staff to help facilitate patient visits. Responsibilities include scheduling, communicating via phone or email, scanning documents, assist with coordination of care and other job-related duties.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Greet new and existing patients upon their arrival.
- Call patients to inform them of upcoming appointments.
- Field phone calls and emails.
- Schedule patient appointments, including on-treatment encounters and follow-ups.
- Make copies and scan documents.
- Gather documents (including test results) and complete questionnaires as needed for patients’ procedures / treatment.
- Facilitate patients completing questionnaires.
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the nursing clinic.
- Communicate with referring providers / offices.
- Coordinate with NYPC partner institutions and other physicians on patient-related care (i.e., coordinating chemotherapy and proton therapy appointments).
- Comply with all New York Proton Center policies related to Privacy Rules established under the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
- Perform other job-related duties, as assigned.
