Job Description
Summary/Objective
The Residential Aide is responsible for observing and monitoring clients, documenting and communicating concerns pertaining to a client to the supervisor of the program. The Residential Aide assists new clients with the admission process, ensures clients are following the required daily schedule, completes room searches and observes client urinalyses. Residential Aide's should have knowledge of different paths of recovery, 12-step self-help programs, etc. Residential Aides are required to observe all client’s self-medication. Understands HIPAA guidelines, ethical boundary limits and importance to role model appropriate behaviors with positive encouragement.
Essential Functions
1. Assumes responsibility for monitoring all clients throughout their assigned shift.
2. Able to observe, identify, document and inform others if physical, cognitive and behavioral changes are a concern.
3. Ensures the daily program scheduled is followed.
4. Is responsible for observing clients taking or refusing their medications at specific designated times.
5. Provides accurate information during shift change.
6. Understands the field of addiction, mental health and recovery.
7. Acts as a role model living a life of responsibility and is supportive of each client’s engagement in the program and provides appropriate support.
8. Can perform the position without close supervision and is open to feedback and direction. Has the ability to work as team members and supports other employees need to complete their job responsibilities on the shift.
9. Able to communicate professionally with all clients, coworkers, supervisors and referral sources.
10. Keeps all program staff members informed of all client’s current challenges or behavioral issues.
11. Is able to quickly adapt to changes in schedules, routines and work assignments.
12. Is prepared for program staff meetings.
13. Engages in monthly supervision.

Work Environment
This job operates in a residential program. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear and write.
This position is occasionally active and requires standing, walking, going up and down stairs for the duration of the workday.

HOURS: Shift
- Can vary but right now is as follows:
- Mondays - off
- Tuesdays - 10:00pm - 6:00am
- Wednesdays - 10:00pm - 6:00am
- Thursdays - 10:00pm - 6:00am
- Fridays - 10:00pm - 6:00am
- Saturdays - 10:00pm - 6:00am
- Sundays - off
Travel
No travel is required.
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Minimum of a high school diploma.
2. Prior professional or personal experience with addition, treatment engagement and sobriety.
3. Minimum one (1) year of sobriety and/or treatment engagement with an understanding in and ability to abide by:
a. Ability to abide by the American Counseling Association (ACA) code of ethics and follow the policy and procedures of the agency.
b. Open to attaining an understanding of ASAM criteria guidelines and DSM-V-TR diagnosing.
c. Understands the Stages of Change
d. Able to maintains documentation and shift report logs.
e. Is open to attending Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and/or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) open/closed meetings throughout employment. Attain knowledge of the 12 Step, Traditions and Big Book of AA/NA.
