JOB TITLE: Billing Specialist
STATUS: Full Time
REPORTS TO: Assistant Executive Director
POSITION SUMMARY: The Billing Specialist is responsible for weekly billing, submitting, and managing claims, using our Electronic Health Record (EHR) and EZClaim, and other billing and insurance-related tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following:
- Weekly billing (ledger from our EHR, Bestnotes, and create claims in EZClaim)
- Managing insurance claims—denials, medical record requests, appeals, and handling anything after claims have been billed, including, but not limited to calling insurance companies to follow up on claims.
- Verification of Benefits (VOBs).
- Setting up daily copay/cost share collections.
- Entering Authorizations into EZClaim—updating and scanning authorizations into EZClaim.
- Uploading insurance documents into EZClaim
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
All other duties as assigned by supervision (related to this job description and company culture).
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess excellent time management skills and well organized.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience processing medical claims a plus

- While performing the duties of this position, the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions.
- Hybrid position but will be required to drive to Project Courage as needed.
