SUMMARY:
Provides translation services within DHS Sanctuary Hotel Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide Spanish translation between clients, staff and other providers as needed.
- Translate documents from Spanish to English and vice versa while maintaining their original content and meaning.
- Assist in facilitating meetings and workshops that require translation services.
- Assist in crisis intervention that require translation services.
- Accompany clients to appointments which require translation
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a High School diploma or GED. Proven work experience as a translator, interpreter or similar role. Fluency in Spanish. Fluency in an additional Language other than Spanish and English is a plus. Must have excellent communication skills both orally and in writing with individuals and groups regarding complex and sensitive issues. Excellent proof reading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors. Familiarity with translation software is a plus. Experience with the homeless and substance abuse population is a plus. Ability to establish workload priorities and balance diverse projects.
