This is a salaried position-approx 40 hours a week depending on the week and what programs are offered. You will be required to work one Saturday a month for the monthly food distribution and or a volunteer group.
Monday 7:30am-3:30pm
Tuesday 7:30am-3:30pm
Wednesday 7:30am-4:30pm
Thursday 7:30am-3:30pm
Friday 7:30am-2:30pm
Saturday Once a month 8:00am-1:00pm
Includes 1 week vacation accrued, accrued sick time, 6 paid holidays (New Years Day, July 4th, Patriots Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas)
Job Description
The Program Manager is in response to the increased demand over the past couple of years (with upwards of 950 families now walking through our doors every week). The Program Manager will bring in donations from a variety of sources, lead volunteers working in the pantry, and take responsibility for maintaining and rotating the food and product inventory for Project Just Because.

Core Responsibilities
Donation Management
- Communicate orders and all reporting for food and programs
- Work to arrange donations of food/product and work with Administrative Admin to schedule rescue drivers for those items
- Assist with food drives, wish list deliveries, and drop locations
- Reach out to new partners to expand offerings
-Provide numbers from all programs as needed
-Food inspections and reporting
Volunteer Leadership
- Supervise volunteers with all incoming donations to ensure everything is put away properly
- Assign tasks to groups to prepare food to give out (e.g. bagging apples)
- Meet with volunteers and staff to discuss what items are most needed
Inventory Maintenance
- Determine what food will be offered each day
- Organize inventory to reduce waste (rotating food first in first out, etc.)
- Ensure storage according to temperature and other food safety guidelines-HCAAP sheets
- Monitor shelves to guarantee that all food is of excellent quality for our guests
-Year long and year end inventory for all programs
Qualifications and Skills
-High attention to detail
- Must be able to keep track of logistics of numerous food orders and other projects
-Excellent organization skills
- Must be able to maintain an extremely organized pantry inventory environment
Interpersonal leadership and communication
- Must be able to build relationships with volunteers, donors, partners, and staff; effectively lead volunteers of various personalities and backgrounds; and delegate tasks while still ensuring they are done correctly
Coolness under pressure
- Must be able to handle stressful situations with a calm and positive attitude
Passion for service
- Compassionate motivation to serve those in need essential
Creative problem solving
- Eagerness to explore and pursue new ideas to improve pantry services a big plus
Computer literacy
- Basic computer proficiency (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) required
-Experience with PantrySoft a bonus
Heavy lifting
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds very helpful but not required
-Ability to be on your feet upwards of 6 hours a day
