Project Oz is looking for someone to be a founding member of our expansion into mental health services for youth, ages 10-23, and their families. This person will be responsible for providing clinical services and for building and leading a small team of mental health professionals to provide high-quality, trauma-competent services in partnership with our other services and provider partners.

Duties and Responsibilities
Role Specific:
- Provide and lead the behavioral health services of the agency.
- Develop relationships with potential referral sources in order to build the program and recruit clientele.
- Ensure quality collaboration and relationships with other local providers and stakeholders.
- Provide trauma-informed individual and family services to clients following program policies and procedures and Medicaid rules (IL HFS Rules 140 and 141), as appropriate. Involves clients and family to the extent possible and clinically indicated in all treatment decisions.
- Educate clients in life skills (safety, health, decision making, setting parameters, communication, anger management, employment-related, etc.) in congruence with assessed service needs.
- Provide crisis intervention services if needed.
- Communicate and coordinate with other service providers and professionals involved in the lives of clients as allowed by clients (with signed releases of information).
- Participate in opportunities for advocacy, including but not limited to, child and family team meetings, IEPs, court, etc. when appropriate to the case and allowed by the rules of confidentiality.
- Provide services at times and locations convenient and relevant to clients and their families.
- Work to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
- Provide leadership, supervision, direction, training, and role modeling to staff, interns, and volunteers in the program.
- Provide a minimum of one hour of individual supervision per month to each mental health professional.
- Observe and evaluate workers' performance and appearance to support quality service and compliance with Medicaid requirements and Employee Handbook specifications.
- Provide referrals and linkage to appropriate agencies as needed.
Project Oz Specific:
- Complete and submit time logs and other agency reports, forms, and logs by agreed upon dates.
- Participate in community outreach, panels, and other committee meetings as directed by leadership.
- Act as a professional and ethical Project Oz representative and as a community resource.
- Attend all required staff meetings and weekly program meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by program director or executive team.
- Act as a Mandated Reporter as outlined by DCFS rules and regulations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree from regionally accredited graduate institution in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling or Psychology, or closely related Human Service field.
- Related professional experience working in a human services program and with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge and ability to utilize the DSM 5 in clinical assessment and treatment planning.
- Knowledge and skills in counseling techniques, child and adolescent development, and therapy modalities appropriate for youth and families.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and experience in providing trauma-competent care.
- Reliable personal transportation, valid Illinois driver’s license, and satisfactory driving history, along with documentation verifying current automobile insurance. May transport clients in own vehicle.
- Must be flexible and able to occasionally travel and work weekend and evening hours.
Preferred:
- Illinois state licensure at the clinical level (Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist).
- Some supervisory experience preferred.
- Minimum two years' full-time work experience in mental health in a social services agency preferred with experience in providing Medicaid services.
- Knowledge of Microsoft® Teams software and/or Outlook, Excel, and Word.

- Background checks – Must pass required criminal and character background checks.
- Mandated Reporter - Act as a Mandated Reporter as outlined by DCFS rules and regulations.
- Training – Job involves multiple required trainings including CPR, IM CANS, and other crisis-intervention related training.
- Travel – Job may require travel via commercial transportation and/or driving motor vehicles. Must occasionally drive in heavy traffic and/or inclement weather conditions.
- Physical Requirements – Must be able to stand, walk, and sit. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Hours – Job may require irregular work hours and travel outside of normal business hours. Must be flexible and able to provide consultation to behavioral health staff outside of work hours.
