Position Title: Construction Manager Representing the Agency
Location: Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, Tulare County, CA
Period Of Performance: 390 calendar days of contract management services, from approximately September 2 to November 29, 2024, followed by a winter shutdown, May 1 to November 28, 2025, and August 3 to October 30, 2026. Exact dates of performance have yet to be determined and are dependent upon start of service activities
Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000 annually based on experience
Project Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Management Representative for an exciting opportunity at Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. We are always looking for hard working professionals to join our diverse workforce and gain experience on a large variety of projects.
Project/Position Overview:
To mitigate roadside tree hazards within the burn perimeter of the 2021 KNP Complex Wildfire in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Fire-killed and weakened trees present the threat of falling onto roadways and parking areas and endangering roadway users.
This role is contingent upon award.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide technical assistance and support to CO during construction.
- Arrange, attend and facilitate a variety of meetings, including weekly meetings at the project site.
- Document issues encountered and problems experienced with the construction contractor.
- Review contractor's baseline and progress schedules.
- Draft project related correspondence for NPS to review and issuance
- Inspect the work of the construction contractor for progress, workmanship, quality and conformance with contract documents, applicable building codes and safety standards.
- Deliver reports, reviews, evaluations, design work, etc. to CO.
- Review and process Construction Contractor's RFIs and assist in resolution, draft response, tracking, and follow up.
- Read, interpret and understand the Tree Removal Service Contract, plans, and specifications.
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:
- Education and professional qualifications related to construction, architecture, and engineering preferred
- 10 years related Construction Management Experience or related field required.
- Minimum of OSHA 30-hour construction safety training required.
- Possess knowledge of OSHA Subpart R-1910.266 logging and forestry practices.
- Knowledge in logging and forestry practices including applicable building codes, applicable safety regulations, and technical writing.
- Knowledge of cost estimating with breakdown of labor, materials and equipment costs for proposed construction contract modifications.
- Competent in evaluating payment requests as they relate to percentages, dollars, and activities for services received.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, schedules, and other specifications.
- Skilled in documenting negotiations between the Government and the Tree Removal Contractor for technical scope requirements, prime and subcontractor labor, equipment, material, overhead, and profit.
- Knowledge of software including Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Adobe PDF, MS Project and any other project management tools
- Maintain a valid driver's license.
- Qualified applicant must be able to pass a background check.
- Capability to walk or climb daily to observe contract performance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
