Position: Licensed Clinical Supervisor for Harm Reduction
Program: Shelter in Reach-Drug User Health
Salary Range: $110-$120K Benefits
Schedule: Mon-Fri, weekends optional, willingness to travel within the 5 boroughs.
Program Overview:
OASAS has collaborated with PRI and DHS to deliver outreach and engagement services to our shelter residents with an existing 822 clinic. The goal of this project is to provide shelters with additional resources to build their capacity to improve behavioral health outcomes of residents and prevent overdose. Peers will work in our shelters located in the Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn providing harm reduction support services to high-risk clients.
Position Overview:
Work exclusively in shelter programs where clients may be experiencing challenges related to substance use, trauma history, or mental health. Supervise and support the program’s certified Peer Counselors in outreaching high-risk clients in various shelter locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and The Bronx. Provide advocacy, care coordination, recovery and crisis intervention. Assist participants in developing communication skills and recovery supports. Provide motivational interviewing and other evidence-based interventions to support clients with substance use and mental health challenges. Assist participants to identify their own individual warning signs of return-to-use and develop coping strategies and crisis prevention tools.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The essential duties of the Licensed Clinical Supervisor include but are not limited to the following activities:
Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the homeless shelter in-reach project.
Supervise homeless in-reach clinicians and peers; confers with in-reach staff regularly regarding techniques used, case progress, and related matters for the purpose of promoting and evaluating professional development and assuring quality of care.
Conduct regular case conferences with clinicians and peers for consultation.
Coordinate the assignment of cases and coordinates training for staff.
Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, guidelines, goals and objectives of the project.
Provide consultation to shelter staff regarding addiction services, programs, and guidelines.
Ensure data is submitted in a timely and consistent manner and submits project related reports as requested.
Supervise and support the peer recovery counselors in the program
Link clients to community resources.
Meet regularly with participants in the shelter providing social work services.
Develop and provide in-service training for staff in the shelters around harm reduction, substance use and mental health issues.
Provide harm reduction counseling and education services directly to clients including teaching coping skills, chaotic substance use prevention strategies, wellness management and social skills to help participants become more independent and achieve their goals.
Connect participants to community resources and on-site support services.
Communicate/collaborate with participants’ treatment providers.
Participate in shelter high risk meetings, and relevant trainings.
Conduct NARCAN Trainings for both staff and clients.
Conduct groups on a weekly basis at assigned shelter site.
Collaborate with participants assigned shelter case managers to discuss clients’ needs/progress.
Collaborate with PRI Healthcare Programs and PRI Harm Reduction Services (The Recovery Center/Residential Services/2nd Chance).
Qualifications:
LCSW
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Competent computer skills for completion of reports, case notes, and other documentation as needed in electronic health reporting system.
Knowledge of evidence-based practices for working with clients experiencing challenges related to trauma, substance use and mental health.
Knowledge of harm reduction principles and best practice guidelines.
Preferred skills:
Ability to work cooperatively with clinical team members and peer counseling staff to serve the needs of clients as effectively as possible.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and with clients.
Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook, DHS CARES System.
Bilingual or multilingual a plus.
Experience working with DHS, OASAS or OMH programs a plus.
Salary : $110,000 - $120,000
