Cleared Senior Software Engineer - COBOL

Job Description

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development, system maintenance, and support.

Place of Performance: 100% remote/telework.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience with COBOL, Unisys mainframe systems, and database management.
• Proficiency in batch processing, file management, and system integration within a legacy mainframe environment.
• Familiarity with federal accounting systems and financial reporting applications.
• Understanding of DoD Information Assurance and cybersecurity compliance standards.
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot software defects, provide fixes, and support performance enhancements.
  
  

Duties:

• Provide software engineering support for the Headquarters Accounting Reporting System (HQARS).
• Maintain and enhance HQARS application components, ensuring system stability and functionality.
• Support data conversion and migration efforts as directed by DFAS.
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolving software issues related to system operations.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, ensuring compliance with DoD security standards.
• Coordinate with functional and technical teams to improve system performance and support financial reporting functions.
