Cloud Application Architect – CEPI
Job Summary: The Cloud Application Architect will serve as the technical lead for orchestrating and managing the cloud infrastructure and applications at the Michigan Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI). This role is responsible for developing and implementing cloud-based application architectures, integrating various services, and ensuring alignment with business needs, security, compliance, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and design enterprise-level cloud application architecture and integration strategies.
- Oversee the migration to a services-based architecture and ensure cloud solutions meet organizational needs.
- Provide expertise in cloud integration with COTS packages, SaaS, and various government applications.
- Develop application models (Enterprise and Reference Models) to standardize design across the organization.
- Guide application development teams in security, usability, and maintainability.
- Perform technical analysis, create design documents, and manage the development of cloud infrastructure and application components.
Key Skills:
- Expertise in cloud application architecture and frameworks (Microsoft Azure, IaC, microservices).
- Strong knowledge of web services (SOAP, REST), SQL, XML, PowerShell.
- Experience with cloud platforms and related technologies, including .NET, Azure, HTML.
- Proficient in cloud security standards, secure coding, and application design best practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for interfacing with technical teams and stakeholders.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), observability, distributed tracing, and maintaining application-level architecture.
Preferred Tools:
- Cloud & Development: Microsoft Azure, .NET (Framework 4.8/6 ), PowerShell, IaC
- Architecture & Design: Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Office Suite
- Database & Integration: SQL, REST, SOAP, XML, microservices architecture
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, Chef & Puppet, Kubernetes (with Helm).
Additional Requirements:
- Strong troubleshooting skills in high-pressure environments.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and provide guidance to teams.
- Deep understanding of security, compliance, and cost-effective solutions in cloud environments.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $75.00 - $80.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
