Histotechnologist

• Responsible for grossing tissue specimens, accessioning them into the computer system, embedding, cutting, staining and cover-slipping tissue.  Also prepares special stains for tissue per request of Pathologists.
• Assists Pathologists in the cutting of surgical, frozen sections and possible autopsies.  Processes specimens using equipment, instruments, or techniques to prepare them for specific analysis, controls physical conditions, responds to time factors to ensure the physiological state-of-the-art specimen is maintained.
• May serve as the back-up morgue assistant in the absence of the contract diener.  This includes basic assistance of the Pathologist during autopsies to include, but not limited to, identification, set up, general assistance, body closure, and clean up. 
• As part of safety, positively identifies patients prior to sample collection and samples prior to testing or aliquoting.
• As part of safety and safeguards electronic paper patient information.
• Independently tests, evaluates, documents and reports patient testing and Quality Control (QC); identifies documents, and resolves any collection; processing, testing or reporting issues.
• Identifies, documents and resolves any collection, processing, testing or reporting issues.
• Assures patient-centered care and provides service in a manner that is professional and will avoid complaints from all stakeholders and customers.

• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in Histology and Cytology.
• Nationally Certified through ASCP.
• Active BLS Card
• Proven ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently
• Authorized to work in the U.S. indefinitely without sponsorship (all jobs)
• Ability to obtain a public trust

Work location is flexible if approved by the company except that position may not be performed remotely from Colorado.
