Duties:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, or other special needs.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Administer medications and monitor health conditions as directed by a nurse or healthcare professional.
- Assist with meal planning, preparation, and feeding.
- Engage individuals in recreational activities and social interactions.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents or clients.
- Document and report any changes in behavior or health status to the appropriate supervisor.
Experience:
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, or other special needs is preferred.
- Knowledge of patient care techniques and first aid procedures.
- Familiarity with working in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or similar healthcare settings.
- Understanding of resident rights and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to provide compassionate care and support to individuals of all ages.
Skills:
- Patient care: Ability to provide compassionate and personalized care to individuals with special needs.
- First aid: Knowledge of basic first aid procedures to respond to emergencies or accidents.
- Working with developmental disabilities: Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities and understanding their unique needs.
- Nursing home/Assisted living experience: Familiarity with the operations and protocols of nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
- Dementia care: Understanding of the challenges associated with dementia and ability to provide appropriate care and support.
- Resident rights: Knowledge of the rights of residents in healthcare settings and commitment to upholding these rights.
- HIPAA compliance: Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality.
