Billing and Collections Specialist

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented billing and collections specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing accounts receivable and ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts. The billing and collections specialist will work closely with clients to resolve payment issues, while building and maintaining positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Contact clients via phone and email to collect outstanding payments on accounts.
• Maintain accurate records of all communications and transactions related to collections.
• Analyze accounts to identify discrepancies, including debits and credits, and resolve issues promptly.
• Collaborate with the accounts payable team to ensure accurate account management.
• Utilize financial software for tracking payments and managing the revenue cycle effectively.
• Provide exceptional customer service while handling sensitive and confidential financial information.
• Conduct account analysis to identify trends in payment behaviors and develop strategies for improvement.
• Stay updated on industry regulations related to collections and ensure compliance in all activities.

Requirements

• Proven experience in accounts receivable and/or collections, preferably in the transportation industry.
• Strong phone etiquette with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and vendors.
• Familiarity with financial software and tools for managing accounts and collections.
• Knowledge of revenue cycle management principles is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical skills for conducting account analysis and resolving discrepancies.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Previous experience in customer service is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
