Position Summary
The Facilities Technician reports directly to the Landside Manager and is responsible for planning and performing maintenance of all airport facilities. In this role, the Facilities Technician will coordinate all maintenance activities, implement sustainability initiatives, manage vendor relationships, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, all while ensuring efficient terminal operations.
This role is responsible for maintenance of equipment, mechanical systems, electrical systems, plumbing and fire detection systems. The Facilities Technician must be comfortable in frequent, consistent, and proactive contact with tenants, peers and the public.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Manages preventative maintenance of equipment, systems and record keeping/related logs.
· Supervises the delivery of preventative maintenance or other specialty services under contract.
· Acts as liaison to ensure all facility safety systems and procedures are being followed when working with vendors.
· Maintains a work order system for tracking and management of equipment maintenance.
· Responds rapidly to any operational issues uncovered in property inspections.
· Ensures the successful completion of work in accordance with terms of service agreement and required documentation is delivered prior to project close out and/or payment.
· Completes timely review of vendor invoices before next approval level to ensure accurate services were provided prior to payment.
· Manages facilities in an emergency situation ensuring the safety and security of all customers, tenants, guests, and assets.
· Maintains the preventative maintenance program and oversees any repair or construction work to sustain a safe and reliable environment.
· Supports a safe environment through identification and elimination of any safety hazards to staff, tenants, and customers.
· Conduct multiple daily walkthroughs to ensure all physical assets are in best possible operating condition.
· Read and interpret engineering drawings and schematic diagrams
Education and Experience
· High school graduate or a trade school graduate in building maintenance
· Ability to use hand and power tools as required
· Experience with operating forklifts, scissor lift, snow removal equipment, and utility vehicles
· Ability or read and understand blueprints, and other schematics
· Computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite
· Experience with budgeting and project management, and working with contractors/vendors
· Experience with Maintenance of Jet Bridges is a plus
· Experience in Airport Terminal Facilities is a plus
Requirements
· Understanding of air conditioning, plumbing, heating, mechanical, electrical systems, and fire detection systems.
· Familiar with the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in facility maintenance.
· Ability to troubleshoot to identify problems and understand issues.
· Able to perform repairs and modifications to various building systems as required.
· Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
· Proven ability to manage projects and contractors.
· Must be available to be on call or on duty during an emergency situation.
· Capable of lifting and transporting moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripheral up to 75 lbs.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Good communication skills—written and verbal
Working Conditions
· Availability to be on call for emergencies or critical issues during off-hours.
· At times, may be exposed to heat, cold, rain/snow in a noisy environment.
Other Requirements
This position requires a detailed background investigation to acquire and maintain a sterile side Airport access (SIDA) badge.
Valid Driver’s License. Driving records will be required.
