Propulsion Controls Engineering has an open position for an experienced Planner II, with a minimum of three years’ experience, preferably in the ship repair industry; supporting our San Diego, CA location. PCE is a full service electro-mechanical repair and diesel repair contractor. PCE has garnered a wealth of extensive experience in successfully executing major system overhauls across numerous ports throughout the world on virtually every class of ship currently in operation.
Planner II Job Summary:
Responsible for the management of a dynamic production schedule. Organizes, structures, and tracks, task(s), resource(s), and milestone inputs from Production Managers and Superintendents providing a detailed “Master Schedule” necessary to enhance planning, organization, and conflict resolution by the Production Management Team.
Essential Functions:
- Expertly and accurately manages Microsoft Project Schedule / Primavera Project Planning ensuring daily up-to-date revision based on input from Production Staff.
- Effectively builds and maintains organized Projects within the Master Schedule to include sub-tier tasks, milestones, predecessors, and resource allocation as necessary to provide and accurate illustration of both current and future production obligations.
- Remains current with Microsoft Project application processes.
- Provides detailed reports, charts, and schedules for review daily or when requested.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Job Requirements and Qualifications Planner II:
Education:
- High School and/or advanced technical schooling preferred.
- Formal training in the application of Project Management Programs (e.g. Microsoft Project and Primavera)
Experience and Knowledge:
- 3- 5 years’ experience
- Demonstrated experience in the support of Project Management.
- Experience within the ship repair/shipyard industry preferred.
- Possess a general knowledge of trades associated within the ship repair industry, (i.e., welder, pipe fitter, outside/inside machinist, electrician, etc.)
- Must be reliable, self-disciplined and motivated.
- Possess excellent communication skills; as both a listener and when providing direction.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
- Proficient in Primavera Project Planning.
